Juan Osorio
Visual Artist
Born in Pereira, Colombia (1982)
Juan Osorio’s work revolves around the deconstruction of contemporary social systems, using photography, video, and mixed media to explore themes of identity, labour, and the individual’s role within societal frameworks. His art confronts the repetitive nature of everyday life, questioning the boundaries between the individual and the collective. By employing techniques that blend digital and analog photography, Osorio reconstructs reality, creating critical narratives that examine modern human existence within capitalist structures.
His project Manual de Disciplina Contemporánea delves into the disciplining of the human body under capitalist regimes, portraying the body as both a tool and a product of industrial systems. This work reflects his engagement with new perspectives and conceptual approaches, pushing the boundaries of how we perceive human labor and identity.
